According to the AGGRI project ("Investments in Agricultural Governance, Growth, and Resilience" — AGGRI), on September 29, the "Crocmaz-Caplani-Tudora" centralized irrigation system was visited by Bob Saum, the World Bank's Regional Director for Eastern Europe; Ines Rocha, Regional Director for Europe at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, and Ulrich Schmitt, Head of the World Bank Group's Office in Moldova. The World Bank Group representatives reviewed the progress of work under the AGGRI project and discussed the importance of reliable access to water for farmers in the region, which is increasingly facing drought and the effects of climate change. Construction work on the "Crocmaz-Caplani-Tudora" project is in its final stages. The system includes pumping stations, a storage reservoir, and approximately 50 km of pipelines equipped with 119 hydrants for farmers to connect to. Once operational, the system will irrigate approximately 2,500 hectares of farmland in the villages of Crocmaz, Caplani, and Tudora, providing access to water for about 60 farmers. A key component is the PNS-8 station, which will draw water from the Dniester River and pump it into the storage reservoir for subsequent distribution to farmland. For local farmers, the existing irrigation system is not just infrastructure; it enhances resilience in the face of an increasingly challenging climate, enables investment in high-yield crops, and provides greater predictability of results from season to season. // 29.09.2026 — InfoMarket.
