Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, announced this during a press conference held following a meeting of the College of Commissioners dedicated to assessments under the pre-accession policy. She noted that the European Commission has identified four countries leading the way in the enlargement process: Montenegro, Albania, Moldova, and Ukraine. "In recent years, these countries have made significant progress in improving their readiness. In the enlargement reports to be published on October 28, we intend to present indicative roadmaps for these countries. We want to help them maintain the pace of reforms, and these roadmaps will outline the next steps with indicative timelines and clear objectives," said Marta Kos. "A 'roadmap' is a strategic document and planning tool through which a candidate country makes firm, time-bound, and phased commitments aimed at implementing the reforms necessary to align with European standards. Such a document should establish clear priorities, deadlines, and specific outcomes for the implementation of reforms, as well as provide a clearer picture of the next steps. It should be noted that the European Commission has adopted a package of documents concerning a policy review in the context of EU enlargement. It sets out the strategic guidelines and measures necessary to prepare the EU for future enlargement. The proposed measures are aimed at preparing the EU's governance, policies, and budget for enlargement, as well as at strengthening the protection of EU values and the principle of the rule of law. // 07.10.2026 — InfoMarket
