This was discussed during a meeting between Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and French Ambassador Dominique Vaag, who discussed strengthening economic cooperation and attracting new French investment to Moldova. The discussions focused on bilateral relations between the two countries, Moldova's European agenda, and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Particular attention was paid to economic and investment cooperation. The officials discussed the activities of French-owned companies already operating in Moldova and opportunities for expanding investment. As noted, there are currently 213 companies with French capital operating in our country. The parties emphasized the need to make more effective use of existing potential, including in infrastructure, energy, and information technology. The Prime Minister called for an expansion of French companies' presence in our country and the launch of new investment projects. In this regard, mention was made of the French business mission scheduled to take place in Chișinău on November 2. It was emphasized that this mission could create new opportunities for cooperation and investment between companies from both countries. Another topic of the meeting was Moldova's European path. The Prime Minister highly appreciated France's consistent support for the country's European agenda and for advancing the EU accession process. The parties also discussed cultural cooperation and the development of the Francophonie, as well as cooperation in the fields of security and defense, expressing interest in continuing projects and exchanges that bring the two countries closer together. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Moldovan exports to France in the first half of 2026 increased by 9.2% compared to the same period in 2025, reaching 20.07 million euros, while French imports decreased by 1.8% to 106.97 million euros.
