According to Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu, on Tuesday, he held a working meeting at the Chișinău substation together with colleagues from the Energy Project Implementation Unit (UCIPE) and Moldelectrica to resolve all issues on which the completion of its modernization and the commissioning of the entire project depend, so that commercial operation of the 400-kV Vulcănești–Chișinău power line can begin. At this stage, five crews—approximately 55 people—are working to complete the final tasks, some of which are being carried out in two shifts. Dorin Junghietu emphasized that the Vulcănești–Chișinău overhead power line has already been connected to the Chișinău substation. The next step will be to complete all work at the substation and commission the entire project. The Minister of Energy called on Ruslan Surugiu, acting director of UCIPE, and Serghei Carmanschi, CEO of Moldelectrica, to make every effort to ensure the necessary technical conditions for the start of commercial operation of the Vulcanesti–Chisinau power line. He noted that this power line is the most significant investment in Moldova's power transmission infrastructure in recent decades, and that this large-scale project will help transport more than 50% of the country's electricity consumption and enable the import of energy from Romania and the European market without transiting through the Moldovan State Power Plant's energy hub. Dorin Junghietu stated that he will continue to personally oversee the progress of the work and ensure that all stakeholders fulfill their obligations, so that the project is completed on time and the line's capacity can be utilized as soon as possible, beginning commercial delivery of the first kilowatts of electricity to consumers in Moldova. It was previously reported that the Vulcănești–Chișinău power line is scheduled to be commissioned in Moldova by the end of August. The power line is approximately 157 km long and connects the substations in Vulcănești (400 kV) and Chișinău (330 kV). The Vulcănești–Chișinău power line is part of a project to develop Moldova's energy system, funded by the World Bank Group. The total cost of the project is approximately 61 million euros, of which about 27 million euros are earmarked for the construction of the power line. // 18.08.2026 — InfoMarket
