The Prime Minister highly commended the fact that representatives of business associations came not only with the problems companies face but also with proposals for solving them. Vasile Tofan emphasized that the government and the Economic Council under the Prime Minister will focus first and foremost on systemic problems that create barriers for the private sector, local governments, and, consequently, for citizens. "We will focus on major systemic problems and on removing barriers that affect economic activity. I support reducing bureaucracy and simplifying regulations, and the government will partner with the business community in this process. The proposals discussed today will be analyzed and prioritized so that we can move on to concrete measures," the prime minister said. Representatives of business associations raised a number of issues related to business operations, including building codes and regulations, digitalization, government procurement, investment, the pharmaceutical industry, and transportation. Among the proposals were a review of regulations that may create additional costs or barriers to investment, the recognition of qualified electronic signatures issued in the EU, and a shift in public procurement from the lowest-price criterion to an assessment of the economic value and quality of applications. Another important topic was the adaptation of companies to European standards. Business leaders emphasized the need for broad consultations with affected sectors when transposing European legislation, as well as the provision of adequate transition periods. In addition, they expressed a desire to ensure greater predictability in the tax and regulatory framework, as well as the early involvement of companies in the public policy-making process.
