At its meeting on Wednesday, the government approved a pilot project called the "Technical Platform for Balancing Responsibility" (PTRE), which will be implemented as part of the energy regulatory sandbox mechanism. Currently, small renewable energy producers face difficulties in estimating the amount of electricity they will supply to the grid. As the Ministry of Energy notes, discrepancies between forecasted and actual generation can lead to imbalances and additional costs, and access to specialized digital tools is often limited. The digital platform will enable them to process measurement data and develop generation forecasts that will be compared with existing commercial estimates. Piloting the digital platform will test whether such a solution can improve the accuracy of forecasts and reduce the difficulties small producers face when participating in the electricity market. The project is scheduled to last 9 months, of which approximately 3 months will be devoted to developing and preparing the platform, and the remaining 6 months to the testing phase itself. During this period, data will be collected and analyzed, forecasts will be developed, and reporting processes and interactions with the transmission system operator will be tested. To limit potential risks to the operation of the national power grid, testing will include power plants with a total capacity of no more than 3 MW. This limitation will allow the digital solution to be tested under real-world conditions without significantly affecting system balancing. During the tests, participants will not be charged for any imbalances arising from platform testing, and all measurement data, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) data, and forecasts will be stored securely and transmitted via encrypted channels. A total of 570 people will be direct beneficiaries of the testing, while an additional 60,000 people will receive indirect benefits. Based on the results of the pilot project, the Ministry of Energy will assess the possibility of broader application of available digital tools for managing imbalances and the participation of small renewable energy producers in the electricity market. // 28.10.2026 — InfoMarket.
