This was announced by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, who presented the concept during a meeting at the State Chancellery, where issues related to investments for farmers were discussed, as well as Moldova's EU-supported Economic Growth Plan. As noted, the goal of the new project by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is to integrate smallholder farmers—especially young people and women—into value chains and facilitate their access to retail networks through financing, technical advice, and strengthening cooperation among producers. Priority areas include vegetable farming, beekeeping, berry cultivation, and small ruminant rearing. The project has been postponed until the next IFAD funding cycle, which is scheduled to begin in early 2028 after the project concept is updated and the necessary permits are obtained. IFAD stands for the International Fund for Agricultural Development. IFAD programs in Moldova are implemented by the government through the Joint Implementation Group for IFAD Programs, with support from the International Fund for Agricultural Development, promoting the development of modern, competitive, and climate-resilient agriculture. // 21.10.2026 — InfoMarket.
