The government approved the relevant resolution at its meeting on August 12. The new joint-stock company will become the legal successor to Moldelectrica and will assume all of its rights and obligations, including existing contracts. As noted by the Ministry of Energy, the reorganization of the national electricity transmission system operator does not involve the privatization of the enterprise: the state will remain the sole shareholder, and high-voltage grids, power substations, and other strategic energy infrastructure facilities will remain in public ownership. The transformation is being carried out to fulfill a legislative obligation that has not been met since 2019, as well as Moldova's commitments to international partners and the European Energy Community, according to which the transmission system operator must possess functional, organizational, and operational independence. The new organizational and legal structure is intended to ensure more transparent corporate governance, facilitate the implementation of strategic power grid development projects, and strengthen the confidence of international financial partners involved in the modernization of energy infrastructure. The decree will take effect one month after its publication, and the reorganization—including an inventory of property, the separation of assets, and the registration of the joint-stock company—is scheduled to be completed within a maximum of 24 months. The Ministry of Energy assures that during this period, Moldelectrica will continue to operate without interruption, and the reorganization will not affect the functioning of the national power system. // 12.08.2026 — InfoMarket.
