According to the regulator's decision, as of September 1, regulated prices for natural gas supplied at the outlets of low-pressure gas distribution networks increased from 13,353 to 18,798 lei per 1,000 cubic meters, excluding VAT. Consequently, for residential consumers, the rate increased by 40.7%—from 13.35 to 18.79 lei per 1 cubic meter, excluding VAT (from 14.42 to 20.3 lei including 8% VAT). At the same time, the tariff for the supply of natural gas at the outlets of high-pressure gas distribution networks increased from 8,365 to 14,219 lei (+70%) per 1,000 cubic meters, and from medium-pressure gas distribution networks—from 9,533 to 15,289 lei (+60.4%), excluding VAT. At the entry and exit points of the natural gas transmission networks, the price rose to 13,231 and 13,824 lei, respectively (+67.3% and +67.1%). As explained by the National Energy Regulatory Agency, the main factor behind the price revision was the increase in the cost of purchasing natural gas. Additional pressure on purchase prices came from risks associated with the conflict in the Middle East, the approaching cold season, and increased demand for natural gas due to the need to replenish reserves for the 2026–2027 season, competition for available liquefied natural gas (LNG) volumes, and limited availability of certain supply sources. As previously reported by InfoMarket, the last time Energocom's regulated natural gas supply prices for consumers changed was in early February. At that time, rates for residential consumers (low-pressure networks) fell by 13.9%—from 15.5 to 13.35 lei per cubic meter, excluding VAT (from 16.74 to 14.42 lei including VAT). Prior to that, gas rates had been adjusted in late November 2024 and took effect on December 1, 2024.
