The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization reported this, noting, in particular, that in the first half of 2026, the number of foreign tourists visiting Moldova increased by 25% compared to the same period last year. This is the highest growth rate in Europe for this period, according to the latest "Global Tourism Barometer" published by UN Tourism (the World Tourism Organization). By comparison, Greece and Ireland each saw a 15% increase in tourist arrivals. Moldova achieved this result despite the fact that, globally, international tourism grew by only 0.4% in the first half of the year. In Europe, growth stood at 3%, making it one of the regions with the highest growth rates. As noted by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the increase in the number of foreign tourists indicates that Moldova is becoming an increasingly attractive tourist destination, offering visitors authentic experiences, vacations in places not overrun by tourists, as well as the opportunity to explore the country's culture, cuisine, wines, and landscapes. This result confirms Moldova's tourism potential and the importance of further investments in infrastructure, the promotion of the country as a tourist destination, and the creation of new tourism products and offerings. By implementing the measures outlined in the Tourism Development Program, the authorities aim to make more effective use of this potential and make Moldova more visible and accessible to both domestic and foreign tourists. // 18.09.2026 — InfoMarket.
