He noted that last night, during the critical period from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., the country faced an electricity shortage of about 130 MWh, which had to be covered by emergency power supplies at prices 2–3 times higher. Vasile Tofan recalled that the entire region faced an electricity shortage amid drought and falling water levels in the Danube, which affected the operation of major power plants, such as nuclear power plants in Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria. "To protect our shared resources and avoid excessive costs, it is extremely important to be more energy-efficient, especially during evening peak hours. A simple gesture—turning off the lights or avoiding the use of large household appliances after 11:00 p.m.—makes a huge difference for the entire country," Prime Minister said. He thanked everyone who had heeded the call in recent days and chosen to consume energy more responsibly. "I am absolutely certain that we are a wise and responsible people.
