The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development reported this, noting that construction work on this first road bridge across the Prut River in more than 60 years is proceeding at a steady pace. Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea, together with State Secretaries Mircea Păscăluţă and Nicolai Mîndra, inspected the construction site in Ungheni, where, on Moldovan territory, installation of the first section of the steel superstructure for the second span has begun. To date, approximately 251 metric tons of steel superstructure have been delivered for both spans of the bridge. The visit continued at the construction site in Iasi County, where assembly of the superstructure is already 70% complete on both tracks; approximately 732 metric tons of steel superstructure have been delivered and installed. Ungheni Bridge (Romania) – Zagaranca (Moldova) will connect Moldova to the Unirii (A8) highway and, indirectly, to the European transport network, enhancing mobility, economic exchanges, and connectivity between the two banks of the Prut River. As previously reported, construction of the road bridge across the Prut River near Ungheni officially began on April 26, 2025. The bridge will play an important role in connecting the two national highway networks—the Târgu Mureș–Iași–Ungheni highway and the future Ungheni–Chișinău highway, both with an estimated completion date of 2030.
