The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) prevented 24 metric tons of imported food products that did not meet safety requirements from entering the Moldovan market and destroyed them under the supervision of inspectors. The violations were identified during official import inspections. Specifically, ANSA discovered 23.18 metric tons of fresh bananas showing signs of spoilage and 820 kg of green tea that exceeded the maximum permissible levels of the pesticides chlorpyrifos and lambda-cyhalothrin. According to the agency, such products could pose a risk to consumer health.
