Moldova is taking measures to prevent possible disruptions in the supply of petroleum products and is analyzing the use of mechanisms to ensure that any price increases are gradual and do not have a sharp impact on consumers - the Cabinet of Ministers

This was discussed during a meeting that Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu held with petroleum product importers, where they discussed the situation on the fuel market in the context of the war in the Middle East, as well as the measures needed to maintain a stable fuel supply in our country. The head of government said it was important for the state and private sector operators to work together to find balanced solutions, as this is a strategic industry and a matter of the country's energy security. “Our priority is to maintain a stable fuel supply for citizens, the economy, and all vital public services,” said Alexandru Munteanu. According to him, the mechanisms for managing crisis situations are in place, and coordination with the National Crisis Management Center, responsible institutions, and market operators is ongoing to prevent possible disruptions in supply. The authorities are also closely monitoring developments on international markets, where there is a marked trend towards rising fuel prices, both globally and regionally. During the meeting, various options and mechanisms were considered that could be applied to ensure that any price increases are gradual and do not have a sudden impact on consumers in Moldova. “There are things that are beyond our control, in particular global prices for energy resources and petroleum products, but we will do everything in our power to maintain a stable supply of fuel and energy resources,” said Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu. It should be recalled that on March 4, the government introduced state of high alert in the energy sector in connection with the external situation in order to maintain the stability of the energy system. Unlike the state of emergency, which involves a strict regime, the state of high alert is a preventive measure that allows the authorities to act more quickly and coordinate the work of the responsible institutions more effectively so that the available energy resources can cover Moldova's domestic consumption as a priority. // 10.03.2026 – InfoMarket.
