The EU and EBRD will strengthen their support for the Moldovan government's reform program

In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers will receive additional expert support to accelerate the implementation of the country's development program within the framework of the Reform Support Teams project, financed by the European Union and implemented by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The agreement to extend the project was signed on Thursday by Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu, EU Ambassador to Moldova Iwona Piórko, and EBRD Vice President Matteo Patrone. The document provides for the creation of 20 new expert positions, which will work in key central government institutions. They will contribute to the development and implementation of public policies and investment projects, including in the areas of infrastructure, economic development, agriculture, energy, and the environment. The initiative will be implemented by the EBRD starting in 2023 and is aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of government bodies involved in the implementation of the government's priority tasks. At present, more than 60 experts have been assigned to ministries and agencies. At a meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and the EBRD delegation, officials stressed the importance of aligning the profile of experts with the priorities of the ministries and institutions of the beneficiary countries so that the expertise provided directly contributes to accelerating the implementation of strategic projects in line with the priorities set in the EU accession process. The current portfolio of projects implemented with EBRD support, the need to accelerate their implementation, and the prospects for cooperation within the framework of Moldova's Growth Plan were also discussed. Officials also discussed measures aimed at improving the investment climate and attracting foreign investment to the country's economy. The EBRD is Moldova's largest institutional investor. Since it began operating in our country in 1992, it has invested more than €3 billion in 199 projects. Currently, 76 projects are being implemented in our country with the support of the EBRD. // 05.03.2026 — InfoMarket
