Moldova did not receive the final $170 million IMF tranche in 2025, but this has not impacted the country's fiscal stability. The authorities plan to resume discussions with the Fund in December regarding renewed cooperation - the Ministry of Finance
This was stated by Finance Minister Adrian Gavrilită to reporters while commenting on the current external financing situation. He noted that this year, the IMF assessment mission did not conduct a review of the Fund's current financing program, nor was it assessed, and therefore the final tranche under this program was not allocated to Moldova, as the program expired at the end of September. At the same time, the Minister of Finance noted that this was a year when Moldova had sufficient resources, and although the IMF did not transfer the planned tranche, the state budget was executed without difficulty, and debt servicing costs decreased by approximately 300 million lei, which was reflected in the latest budget adjustment. Instead of the planned IMF funds, Moldova receives money for budget support on favorable terms from the French Development Agency and the European Union. Adrian Gavrilită noted that, as planned, in December, the Moldovan authorities will discuss plans and potential future cooperation, a new financing program with the IMF. In December 2024, the IMF Executive Board completed the 6th review under the program supported by the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), and the review under the program supported by the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), and Moldova received access to a total tranche of approximately $162.6 million, which was used as budget support, and the total amount of funds provided under the program amounted to about $810.2 million. Moldova did not receive the final tranche under this program in 2025. The IMF said both agreements with it expired in October 2025 because the authorities' implementation of the remaining tax policy and governance commitments under the agreement had been delayed. // 12.11.2025 — InfoMarket
