The European Commissioner for Enlargement made this statement during separate meetings with the Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, Igor Grosu, and members of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, with whom she discussed the EU accession process. Marcel Spatari, Chair of the Committee on European Integration, emphasized that the role of his committee will be to catalyze the accession process in both parliament and government, and thanked the European Commissioner for Enlargement for her support of Moldova's accession process. In turn, Marta Kos emphasized that the work of the European Integration Committee will play a vital role in the accession process and expressed her readiness to work closely with the committee members to conclude accession negotiations by 2028. At the same time, she congratulated our country on the progress reflected in the 2025 Enlargement Report. The report, prepared by the European Commission, was presented in early November in Brussels.
