Moldova will improve its legislative framework in the area of consumer and mortgage lending by aligning it with EU standards
As reported by the National Financial Market Commission, it held a technical assistance session dedicated to modernizing the legislative framework for the protection of financial services consumers. Discussions focused on analyzing the draft law on credit agreements offered to consumers for the purchase of residential real estate and the draft law on consumer credit agreements. EU expert Piotr Adamczewski presented an overview of EU Directives 2014/17/EU on mortgage lending and 2023/2225 on consumer lending, focusing on key obligations and the prospects for their implementation. At the same time, the dialogue aimed to facilitate the proper implementation of EU directives to ensure a higher level of protection for citizens accessing real estate or consumer loans in Moldova.
