Moldova is prepared for the cold season by creating reserve and strategic gas reserves, including to meet the needs of consumers in the Transnistrian region - the ANRE
This was announced by Constantin Borosan, Director of the National Agency for Energy Regulation, at a meeting in Vienna with Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat. According to ANRE, the meeting discussed current issues related to the development of Moldova's energy sector and cooperation with relevant European institutions. The parties analyzed Moldova's significant progress in implementing EU energy legislation. According to the Energy Community's annual report, which will be published, our country is demonstrating consistent progress in both harmonizing its regulatory framework and strengthening institutional capacity. The meeting focused on energy security. The ANRE Director noted that Moldova is prepared for the cold season by creating reserve and strategic natural gas reserves, including to meet the needs of the Transnistrian region. Furthermore, the natural gas market liberalization schedule was confirmed, which envisages the transition of large non-residential consumers to the free market on April 1, 2026. This phased transition, along with measures to transpose EU legislation, will enhance transparency, competition, and efficiency in the domestic energy market. Constantin Borosan thanked the Secretariat for the technical assistance provided to our country and emphasized the role of the EU-funded Moldova Energy Independence and Resilience Project (MEIR) in supporting Moldova. He noted that the opening of the MEIR Secretariat office provides technical and institutional support for the implementation of modernization projects and strengthening energy independence. // 04.12.2025 — InfoMarket
