Claudia Melnic, former Minister of Finance of Moldova and one of the key figures in shaping the country’s financial system during its early years of independence, has passed away at the age of 79. From 1992 to 1994, she headed the Ministry of Finance, helping to establish the basic mechanisms of budgetary and financial policy for the young state. She later headed the insurance company Asito.
