The customs services of Moldova and Greece will strengthen dialogue and cooperation in the field of customs control
Prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation were discussed by the heads of Moldovan and Greek customs services, Radu Vrabie and Dimitrios Bourikos, during a meeting held in Athens as part of the III High-Level Conference of Heads of Customs Administrations of the Western Balkans and the EU. According to the Customs Service, the parties addressed trade facilitation, digitalization of customs procedures, information exchange, and customs administration modernization in the context of Moldova's European integration. Particular attention was paid to Greece's experience in managing the EU's external borders, excise tax administration, and the implementation of modern risk analysis and fraud prevention tools. They also discussed opportunities for cooperation in developing the Computerized Transit System (NCTS), the compatibility of customs information systems, and the use of non-intrusive control technologies (sampling or opening product packaging), including scanning equipment. The parties discussed the exchange of experience in risk management, customs fraud prevention, strengthening institutional integrity, and implementing European customs administration practices, as well as organizing working visits between the agencies. Head of the Greek Customs Administration confirmed his readiness to continue institutional dialogue with the Moldovan side and to leverage the opportunities offered by regional and European customs initiatives. Radu Vrabie is on a working visit to Athens on June 10–11, where he is participating in the 3rd High-Level Conference of Heads of Customs Administrations of the Western Balkans and the EU. The forum is dedicated to digital customs connectivity, the development of "green corridors," and the alignment of standards in the context of closer integration into the single European market. // 10.06.2026 – InfoMarket.
