Moldova's current account deficit in the balance of payments in the first quarter of 2026 amounted to EUR 806.2 million, a decrease of 17.1% compared to the same period in 2025

According to preliminary data from the National Bank of Moldova, this was due to a reduction in the deficit in foreign trade in goods and an increase in the surplus in the balances of services and primary income, while the surplus in the balance of secondary income decreased. The current account deficit to GDP was 20.9%, down by 5 percentage points from the first quarter of 2025.
