The State Tax Service (SFS) announced this, informing taxpayers engaged in the trade of cigarettes and cigarillos that in 2026 the base price of a pack containing 20 units of this product will be 46.59 lei, and the sale of cigarettes and cigarillos at a price below the base price will be prohibited. According to the provisions of the Tax Code, the retail sale of cigarettes and cigarillos at a price lower than the base price will result in a fine of 30% to 50% of the value of the cigarettes and/or cigarillos in stock at the time of inspection, based on the base price.
