Such data were presented by the National Bureau of Statistics in a study of the demography of enterprises in Moldova in 2020. It is reported that at the end of last year, 50.5 thousand enterprises submitted reports to state bodies in Moldova, of which 72.2% were active. At the same time, the number of active enterprises increased in 2020 compared to the previous year by 2.2% - to 36.5 thousand, and the number of inactive - decreased by almost 3% - to 14 thousand. According to the NBS, about 23% of enterprises created more than 7 years ago, 1.8% - less than 1 year ago, 6.9% - from 1 to 3 years. It is reported that 42.4% of active enterprises in Moldova in 2020 worked in the field of trade, 10% - in the processing industry, 9.9% - in the field of professional and scientific and technical activities, 7.4% - in the field of real estate transactions, 7.1% - in the construction sector, etc. About 92.1% of active enterprises in Moldova are owned by private individuals, 1.6% are state-owned, 2.3% have a mixed form of ownership. More than 63% of active enterprises of the country are concentrated in Chisinau municipality. 15.5% of all enterprises in the country operate in the Central Development Region of Moldova, 12.9% in the North, 5.4% in the South, and 3.2% in Gagauzia.
