Gasoline and diesel prices continue to rise in Moldova amid rising international prices for petroleum products – ANRE
The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) reported that it is monitoring developments in international petroleum product markets in light of the escalating conflict in the Middle East and the resumption of hostilities in the region. Reports of disruptions to maritime shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have led to a rise in international prices for petroleum products, which directly affects pricing in the domestic market. According to Reuters, since the resumption of hostilities in Iran, the price of Brent crude rose to $100 per barrel at the opening of the trading session on July 24, an increase of $27 per barrel (+37%). At the same time, Platts quotes for petroleum products showed accelerated growth of $156.5 per metric ton for gasoline (+15.7%) and $234.5 per metric ton for diesel fuel (+20.6%). Given Moldova’s complete dependence on petroleum product imports, these external fluctuations also affect retail prices in the domestic market. Under these circumstances, for the period from July 25 to 27, ANRE set the following maximum retail prices for standard petroleum products: COR 95 gasoline—30.16 lei/liter (+27 bani); standard diesel fuel—30.29 lei/liter (+49 bani).
