If the European Commission issues a positive assessment in September, Moldova will receive a new tranche of 157 million euros under the Growth Plan
This was discussed during a meeting held in Chisinau between Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighborhood (DG ENEST). The parties discussed the new government’s economic priorities, the implementation of Moldova’s Growth Plan, and the reform program necessary to advance negotiations on accession to the European Union. Vasile Tofan emphasized that the government’s goal is to revitalize the economy by stimulating investment, effectively utilizing the opportunities provided by the Growth Plan, and accelerating reforms that will contribute to our country’s economic development and integration into the EU. One of the topics of discussions concerned the implementation of the 2025–2027 Reform Program and preparations for the next phase of fulfilling the commitments undertaken. It was noted that Moldova has fulfilled 18 of the 20 commitments set for the first half of 2026. If the European Commission issues a positive assessment, our country will receive a new tranche of 157 million euros under the Growth Plan in September. To date, Moldova has implemented 46 out of 48 measures under the 2025–2027 Reform Program, reaching a 95% implementation rate—the highest among the beneficiary countries of the European Union’s Reform and Growth Facility. Officials noted that the next phase of the Reform Program’s implementation will be challenging, given that 40 new measures are planned for the second half of 2026. In this context, a shared commitment was reaffirmed to maintaining the pace of reforms and making full use of the support offered by the European Union to modernize the economy and improve citizens’ living standards.
