Prime Minister candidate Vasile Tofan presented the composition of his new government
Following consultations with parliamentary factions and representatives of various associations and organizations, Prime Minister candidate Vasile Tofan presented the composition of his new government. The Cabinet of Ministers will retain its current structure and will consist of 14 ministries. Tofan's government will also include five deputy prime ministers and a government secretary general. Specifically, the posts of deputy prime ministers will be retained by Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugen Osmochescu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi, as well as Cristina Gherasimov (Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration) and Valeriu Chiveri (Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration), while Alexei Buzu will continue as government secretary general. Dan Perciun (Minister of Education and Research), Daniella Misail-Nichitin (Minister of Internal Affairs), Vladislav Cojuhari (Minister of Justice), Natalia Plugaru (Minister of Labor and Social Protection), Gheorghe Hajder (Minister of Environment), Dorin Junghietu (Minister of Energy), and Anatolie Nosatîi (Minister of Defense) will also retain their current positions. At the same time, compared to the current government, the heads of four ministries will be replaced: the Ministry of Finance will be headed by MP and former Minister of Finance Victoria Belous (currently held by Andrian Gavrilita); the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry will be headed by Radu Musteata, Director of the National Agency for Food Safety (replacing Ludmila Catlabuga); Alexandru Gasnaș, Advisor to the President of Moldova in the Field of Medicine, has been proposed as Minister of Health (currently held by Emil Ceban); and the Ministry of Culture may be headed by Dan Suruceanu, Deputy Director of Arena Chișinău (replacing Cristian Jardan). Tofan thanked the ministers leaving the government, noting their contribution to reform and Moldova's progress toward joining the European Union. "We are entering parliament with a team of strong professionals who must set an accelerated pace for all state institutions and ensure the progress of reforms," Tofan stated.
