The Moldovan government intends to restart the economy and ensure sustainable economic growth - Alexandru Munteanu

Prime Minister made this statement at a plenary meeting of the Economic Council, which brought together representatives of the business and scientific communities. Participants discussed the current economic situation, the problems entrepreneurs are facing, and the priorities of the Economic Council for 2026. The head of the Cabinet stressed that the government's goal remains to ensure sustainable economic growth, increase productivity and competitiveness through consistent policies regarding the business environment. Alexandru Munteanu noted that high-quality dialogue between the public and private sectors should be a key factor in economic growth and the restart of the economy, and the role of the Economic Council should evolve from a platform for general consultation to an interactive partnership to support a balanced economic policy that supports entrepreneurship but does not harm the public interest and the well-being of society. During the meeting, priorities for the near future were discussed. These include minimizing bureaucracy in processes, digitizing services for companies, reducing the administrative burden, and creating a permanent working group on the development of the agro-industrial complex within the Economic Council. Established in 2011, the Economic Council aims to promote dialogue between business representatives, the donor community, and policymakers to develop a transparent and investment-friendly business environment. The platform brings together 148 members from various sectors, including representatives of business associations, government agencies and institutions, members of research centers, the academic community, and representatives of international organizations. // 19.01.2026 — InfoMarket.
