The implementation of the Good Roads program in Moldova will soon resume, but the 650 million lei provided for by the budget will be redistributed across all settlements according to the new principle, based on the population.
The head of the State Administration of Roads Gheorghe Curmei told reporters about this on Monday, noting that the corresponding decision to redistribute the funds allocated for the repair of local roads and set certain limits was made during a meeting of the Road Fund Council. Gheorghe Curmei noted that, in general, the cost of the Good Roads program is estimated at 1 billion 750 million lei, however, only 950 million lei is included in the law on the state budget for this year for its implementation. At the same time, 280 million lei was paid for work performed under contracts in 2018 under the Good Roads-1 Program. “We now have about 650 million lei in the budget to implement this program. And during the dialogue between the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure and local authorities, it was decided to recount the allocated funds for all villages, taking into account the number of citizens living there, to ensure a fair distribution of funds. The recount was done because earlier in some settlements with 4 thousand inhabitants they received 1 million lei for road repairs, and in settlements with 2 thousand inhabitants - 2 million lei. We made an average calculation, found out how much money should be allocated per capita, and balanced the allocation of funds among various settlements, taking into account the available limits, ”said the head of the State Administration of Roads. According to him, so far, 650 million lei, which are in the budget, will be used for the repair of local roads. “We will repair as many roads as these funds are enough. If we have additional financing, the volume of road repair will be increased, ”said Gheorghe Curmei. He noted that, first of all, settlements, which had previously been unfairly allocated money, taking into account the population, will receive money for the repair of local roads. The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure has sent new calculations for the allocation of funds to the State Administration of Roads, which in turn will inform contractors about new limits on work under existing contracts. The state administration of roads will develop an estimate of costs at the suggestion of local authorities, taking into account the new limits and send this data to the relevant ministry for subsequent adjustment of data on the program. “Contractors are ready to get started. They will receive information on new limits and conditions under existing contracts and will begin work in the very near future. It will take several days to deliver equipment and purchased materials. This week, work on the program will resume, ”said Gheorghe Curmei. // 19.08.2019 — InfoMarket.
