Moldova to receive a soft loan from France to restore the Chisinau-Ungheni railway line

This is envisaged by a letter of intent regarding the financing of the project for the reconstruction and modernization of the Chisinau-Ungheni railway line, which was signed on September 13 by representatives of the Moldovan and French governments. In particular, the document was signed by Moldovan Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Vadim Brinzan and French Secretary of State for European Affairs Amélie de Montchalin. Vadim Brinzan expressed gratitude to France for its readiness to provide Moldova with preferential terms for the development of railway infrastructure. According to him, the funds provided by the French government will be used to purchase automated equipment and restore some sections of the railway on the Chisinau-Ungheni section. “This project is strategic for our country and will significantly improve the connection of the Moldovan railway network with the Romanian and the European one as a whole,” said Vadim Brinzan. The criteria for introducing the French financial assistance and the exact financing conditions will be defined in the intergovernmental agreement to be signed. // 13.09.2019 - InfoMarket.
