Moldova plans to receive external loans in 2020 to support the budget and the implementation of projects financed from external sources, totaling 9 billion 296.7 million lei (equivalent to $ 503.4 million).
This is stated in the materials of the Ministry of Finance to the draft Law on the state budget for 2020, which was approved by the government. As noted, thus, it is planned to obtain external loans for the implementation of projects financed from external sources for 7 billion 017.2 million lei (the equivalent of $ 379.9 million), and for budget support - in the amount of 2 billion 279.5 million lei (equivalent of $ 123.4 million). It is assumed that in 2020, the World Bank through the International Development Association (IDA) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) will be the main creditor of the Moldovan government, which will provide our country with loans totaling 2 billion 939.3 million lei (equivalent to $ 159,1 million), which is about 31.6% of the total inflow of external government loans. At the same time, 59.5% of the total amount of WB loans will be used to implement projects financed from external sources in Moldova, and 40.5% to support the budget. External government loans to support the budget from the WB will be provided under the Economic Management Program - 923.5 million lei (equivalent to $ 50 million) for the following programs: modernization of the health sector - 199.7 million lei (equivalent to $ 10.8 million); modernization of the tax administration - 51.5 million lei (equivalent to $ 2.8 million); competitiveness increase - 16.3 million lei (equivalent to $ 0.9 million). It is planned that the second place in the total volume of allocated external state loans in 2020 will be occupied by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development with an indicator of 1 billion 798.2 million lei (equivalent to $ 97.5 million), which is 19.3% of the total amount of external government loans, followed by the European Investment Bank with the amount of external government loans of 1 billion 678.5 million leva (equivalent to $ 90.9 million), which is 18.1% of the total revenue of external government loans. From the governments of other states, in particular, Russia and Belarus, Moldova expects to receive loans in 2020 for 1 billion 504.4 million lei (equivalent to $ 81.4 million), which will be 16.2% of the total inflow of foreign state loans.
