In Moldova in March 2019, legal entities net demand for foreign currency was covered by its net supply from individuals at the level of 120.3% versus 47% in February 2019
The National Bank of Moldova announced this, noting that in March, as compared with the previous month, the net currency supply from individuals increased by $51.1 million (+ 58.4%) - to $138.6 million. At the same time, the net the demand for currency from legal entities decreased by $71 million (-38.1%) - to $115.2 million. Under current conditions, the NBM intervened in the form of net purchases of foreign currency in the local interbank market in the amount of $10.4 million and 40.4 million euros. As noted by the NBM, the average exchange rate of the MDL to the US dollar in March 2019 decreased by 0.4% to 17.1859 lei per dollar against 17.1156 lei per dollar in February. According to the exchange rate recorded at the end of the month, the MDL depreciated by 0.9%. As for the structure of the net supply of foreign currency from individuals, the largest share still belongs to the euro (69%).
