The Chisinau Municipal Council approved the concept of street trade development.
The document is intended to systematize actions aimed at stimulating organized and legal trade, ensuring a healthy competitive environment in this area, and increasing the level of customer service. The concept will make it possible to ensure the correspondence of street shopping units to the urban environment and to meet the socio-economic needs of the city. The vice-mayor of Chisinau, Inga Ionesii, noted that the new concept will allow the development of an organized and modern trade, using the potential sources of revenue from the municipal budget and optimizing the number of kiosks in the city. According to the concept, it is proposed to regulate the number of trade units through predetermined placement schemes, which will be approved by the municipal council. These schemes can be changed at the initiative of the prefectures of the city and in the presence of appropriate arguments. When determining trading places, the regulations and urban planning documentation of the city, the physical parameters of the location zones, and the intensity of pedestrian flows will be taken into account. Placing multiple trade items in one place will be prohibited, with the exception of outlets for the sale of flowers. According to the concept, the right to conclude an agreement for the placement of mobile trade units will be provided on the basis of an open tender. The concept also regulates the visual and architectural aspects: a special commission will approve the design of each trade unit, taking into account the environment and buildings. // 24.07.2020 - InfoMarket.
