Lithuania will continue supporting banking reforms in Moldova
This was stated by the new Lithuanian ambassador in our country, Kestutis Kudzmanas, who visited the National Bank of Moldova and met with its president Sergiu Cioclea and vice-president Cristina Harea. According to the NBM, the heads of the NBM welcomed the assistance provided by the Central Bank of Lithuania (Lietuvos bankas) within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed last year by the two institutions. "The experience and technical assistance of colleagues from Lithuania are especially valuable for the NBM, which is currently carrying out a comprehensive reform process in the banking sector. The Central Bank of Lithuania passed some time ago through similar processes of bank reorganization and institutional consolidation," the NBM President stressed. In his turn, the Lithuanian Ambassador positively assessed the dynamics of cooperation between the two central banks and expressed confidence that the relations will generate progress for both sides. The Memorandum of Understanding between the National Banks of Moldova and Lithuania was signed on August 22, 2017. The document provides for the creation of a comprehensive framework for cooperation and exchange of information between institutions. Since the signing of this Memorandum, the Bank of Lithuania has organized a number of trainings and exchange of experience for Moldovan specialists in the fields of financial stability, banking supervision, monetary policy, allocation of international reserves, risk management and institutional communication. A special visit was also made to the NASDAQ Vilnius Stock Exchange to study practices related to the activities of the Single Central Securities Depository. //12.09.2018 - InfoMarket.
