The government approved the National Program for the Development of Beekeeping for 2021-2025 and a 3-year implementation plan.

The program is aimed at strengthening and developing the beekeeping sector in Moldova, diversifying products, increasing the productivity of bee colonies, increasing export potential, etc. The program will introduce modern platforms and mobile devices for pumping honey; it is planned to carry out certification of apiaries and create an electronic certification system. It is planned to plant trees, shrubs and melliferous plants on land unsuitable for agriculture, and an interactive map will be developed to monitor the movement of bees during the honey harvesting period. To improve the local gene pool and health status of bees, it is planned to increase the number of hives to ensure the purity of the Carpathian bee breed, stimulate the production of highly productive biomaterial, etc. Separate solutions are envisaged to strengthen the capacity of the Republican Veterinary Diagnostic Center in the analysis and determination of phytosanitary preparations used in agriculture, which are toxic to bees. It is planned to create an independent body for monitoring, information and coordination of actions in the beekeeping industry (Apicprotect), subsidies for the purchase of medicines for the treatment of bee diseases, etc. will be provided to beekeepers. Another goal of the program is to diversify beekeeping products and strengthen the processing and production of products through cooperation and clustering. Requirements for the quality of beekeeping products will be developed and approved, in addition to honey (wax, propolis, pollen and royal jelly), it is planned to promote the creation of producer groups - this will increase the potential for the production, processing and sale of honey, regional centers of beekeeping will be developed, etc. Special measures are envisaged to promote the professional activity of beekeepers, stimulate professional education in beekeeping, and develop consulting in the field of beekeeping. A separate goal is to promote the culture of honey consumption, the creation of beekeeping agricultural pensions and the promotion of tourism, campaigns to promote the consumption of honey, the development of a single brand to promote the national beekeeping sector, etc. In general, the implementation of the 5-year program will require about 1 billion 148.5 million lei, almost 70% of them will be allocated from the state budget. The largest amount of funds - 855.12 million lei (75% of the total) will be spent on investments in equipment, inventory and medicines, the rest will be required for the development of the industry, training and support, development of biological material, creation of an association and promotion of goods and services , development of the melliferous fund. The implementation of the program will increase the number of bee colonies, increase the volume of manufactured and exported products, the number of beekeepers, hives and improve the gene pool and health of bees. // 22.10.2020 — InfoMarket.
