The Ministry of Agriculture began repeated consultations on the draft National Program for the Development of the Dairy Industry for 2020-2025 and an action plan for its implementation.
The main goal of the program is to update the zootechnical sector, increase the number of cattle, sheep and goats, increase the productivity of animals and the competitiveness of the products obtained. As part of the action plan for 2020-2023 more than 291.2 million lei will be required to improve the legal framework and develop the infrastructure of the livestock sector, 36.45 million lei will be invested in equipment and implements, 6.65 million lei will be allocated for the development of the sector, training and support of specialists in this field, 47.6 million lei will be allocated for the development of biological material, 1.31 million lei - for the promotion of goods and services in the dairy industry. Action plan for 2024-2025 is to be approved subsequently. As expected, the implementation of the program will allow to consolidate cattle on farms and increase the number of cows from 5.1 thousand to 22 thousand, as well as increase the production of beef, sheep and goats by 40%. Within the framework of the program, new dairy farms, including family-type ones, will be built, and existing ones will be modernized. It is planned that by 2025 there should be at least 150 dairy farms in the country. It is expected that dairy processing enterprises will be re-equipped, they will introduce risk management systems and quality management systems ISO 22000. The volume of milk production at authorized farms is planned to increase from 18.87 thousand tons in 2020 to 135.2 thousand tons by 2025.
